I’m Going Back to School
When I was still in undergrad I told myself, “Girl this is it! Ain’t no going back because this is for the birds.” Well here I am 9 months out, and starting on my Masters in New Media Journalism with Full Sail University. I can be very indecisive, but I also told myself, “Girl, grow up and start making adult decisions. Stop being so scared of what others are going to say or how your job will take the news.” Yeah I talk to myself a lot! But I have to encourage myself when there is no one else around to help.
I will say on this new journey I am very excited, and nervous at the same time. There is that thought in the back of my head that all I’m doing is just adding extra debt onto the debt that I have from undergrad, but here’s the thing I want to be able to at least give myself the opportunity to do better than what I am doing now. I don’t plan on working for someone for the rest of my life, and I feel like I can utilize my skills, and education to do something for me and my family.
The great thing is that Full Sail gives you the tools that you need to be successful while in school, and in your future career. The main campus is located in Florida, so I will be doing online classes which makes the program only 1 year long! I was a bit skeptical of the school, but with further research I found that it has been around for more than 30 years. It started as a school for music and sound, but later became a school for all entertainment. The music person in me is screaming like a little girl at a One Direction concert!
So here’s to the year ahead. It will be scary, and I know for sure that there will be crying moments, but I’m so looking forward to this.
